A full home renovation in Alphington. The M.J Harris Design team gave this dated and weathered period style home a modern yet respectful update. Proving it possible to blend modern function and style with the homes original unique aesthetics. It’s important to approach each update with the right balance to ensure one doesn’t cancel out the other.

With all of the works needing to be done at this home we enlisted the skills of the M.J. Harris Group Sister companies including M.J.Harris Painting, Plumbing, Electrical, Tiling, Carpentry. The exterior of the home was fully restored by M.J.Harris Carpentry. Keeping with the home’s rich history, the detailed front porch columns and exterior architraves were all sanded, restored and painted giving the home a new curb appeal.  M.J Harris painters and carpenters did an amazing job fixing, cleaning, prepping, and ultimately transforming the exterior of the home using Dulux “Gamelan” on the weatherboards and “Snowy Mountains Full” on the trims, windows, gutters and fascias. The feature front door was painted in a gloss black.

Subtle references to the old house are brought into the contemporary renovation. Original hardwood Floors were sanded, polished and stained by Woodpecker Floors with a satin finish. The Interior was painted in the classic Natural White from Dulux.The monochrome kitchen came up gorgeous with contrasting dark wood accents. The kitchen features handmade spanish subway tiles by urban Edge Ceramics, custom joinery by Goulburn Valley Construction with polytec Calcutta doors, and new 20mm ceasterstone bench tops in Bianco drift. Smeg appliances by Harvey Norman were installed including a Pyrolytic Oven, Bevelled edge induction cooktop and undermount range-hood. We also added a new chrome Franke Sink and Grohe tap by Reece Bathrooms.

The bathroom renovation saw some major changes and are now modern, stylish and functional with custom joinery ,(Goulburn Valley Construction) the addition of niches in the showers and above the new Caroma freestanding tub. Phoenix Nostalgia Range tapware was used to keep with the traditional style of the home. Stone bench tops in pure white by ceaserstone and basins by Caroma blend effortlessly in these spaces . Our designers along with the clients choose some exquisite tile combinations using “SICIS” tiles by Perini Tiles for the feature mosaic , Charcoal Floor tiles by Academy Tiles and Marble Wall tiles by Beaumont Tiles.

Along with the trades of MJ Harris Group and the MJ Harris Design team have completed renovations in the main bathroom, ensuite, laundry and 2 powder rooms at this stunning property in Mill Park. A Hamptons style was carried throughout the rooms to create timeless, elegant spaces for this growing family. By adding Custom joinery we were able to maximise the functionality & storage. Joinery handles are Furnware Dorset in brushed nickel. The bathroom and ensuite feature Organic White Ceaserstone bench tops, contrasting Beaumont tiles, with classic white subway tiles from national tiles. Other features and fittings include Frameless shower screens provided by highgrove bathrooms, Methven shower heads, and Mondella Maestro tapware and ensuite pendant lights from Beacon Lighting.

A Freestanding tub with floor mounted bath spout from infinite tap-ware in the main bath add a touch of modern style and luxury.

Our Carpenters and Painters have joined together again to make sure every aspect of this Merbau timber screen is looking good. We appreciate the finer details of each project we undertake and are always looking to improve our work. On our currently running Warrandyte project we were asked to build a timber screen to a private bathroom retreat. Its quite easy to dress the front side facing into the bathroom but we wanted to make every angle look amazing.

We chose to paint the treated pine frame in a straight Black exterior low sheen paint. The contrast between to the two colours was amazing and really made the Merbau timber tones pop. At MJ Harris Carpentry we endeavour to make every part of our renovation count.

This unique kitchen was designed and built by the team at MJ Harris. Starting with custom joinery, this vinyl wrapped kitchen was designed with a two toned finish. The overhead cupboard included lift up doors to reveal a glass and mirrored bar, including this sleek pull out range hood. Below has a white gloss finish, incorporating in built bar fridges, oven and plenty of draws. The splash black is made of bevelled edged white subway tiles played i a brick pattern. The dark grey grout really makes the tiles pop. Our painters melbourne used a simple white colour scheme to provide a neutral setting for all the kitchens feature to stand out. We used caesar stones new sleek concrete bench tops to accommodate they grey’s in the room. Using a large 600mm x 600mm grey tiles on the floor to tie in with the stone. This kitchen is perfect for entertaining whilst sleek and simple when closed up. DIAMOND CREEK BATHROOM RENOVATIONS

Our Interior Designers along with the customer worked together to design this contemporary bathroom with stand out features. We found the perfect feature tile from Beaumont Tiles to accommodate the fittings from Reece. With a spacious walk in shower, free standing bath and wall mounted tap ware makes this generous space feel clean and sleek. Our joiner was able to work his magic yet again and design a modest vanity to suit the above mount sink and a  custom mirror to match. With double niches in the bath area, leaves room for storage and styling. When the MJ Harris Group work together we ensure we design and build the best bathroom renovations Melbourne.

This renovation in Diamond Creek was a fantastic project. Along side our Interior Designers we transformed this kitchen. We designed this kitchen to accommodate our clients needs, being entertainers they wanted a space the could work in that also invites people to congregate at. This kitchen was entirely custom built by our joiners, with profiled doors, LED lighting and island bench. In this room our Carpenters installed custom bi fold doors that open to a newly built spotted gum decking with spacious pergola and entertaining area. We also lay ned solid timber spotted gum flooring to kitchen, living hallway and entrance. Another great job from our team!

Bringing old into new our carpenters had the pleasure of installing this pressed metal splash back to a new kitchen as a part of a renovation project in Fitzroy. Not many other builders Melbourne have the pleasure of working with unique materials from the past. Our customers selected a pattern of pressed metal and had it factory finish it 2pac paint prior to our carpenters installing. Then carefully the hand nailed the sheet to timbers, ensuring that they didn’t damage the pre finished surface.

We are at handover stage of this double storey extension and decking we undertook with all division of the MJ Harris Group. This huge decked area is surrounded by Merbau screening for privacy against the neighbours. Not only do these screens enclosure your area and but they look fantastic. With our painters coating the screens with Cabits Aquadeck and our electricians from MJ Harris Electrical lighting them up with stainless steel outdoor recessed lights from Beacon Lighting. This outdoor area has given this family the perfect area to entertain all year round.

We currently have a large renovation project running in the lovely suburb of Warrandyte. As part of this spectacular house transformation we are removing some old windows and replacing with new. Our carpenters have installed this new colonial double hung window to this second storey master bedroom With the use of our own scaffolding we were able to remove the existing window and easily install the new window. Next stage is for our painters from MJ Harris Painting to come through and do their marvellous work undercoating and painting this window to match the rest of the home.
